Email not displaying correctly? View it in your browser. Hello Friends- I can’t believe it’s been less than 3 months since Tapped first premiered in Maine! So many good things are happening and we are about to do another stretch of film festivals starting October 8th in Boston! We’ve been inundated with screening requests and I’m pleased to welcome Katrina Parks to our team to help us set up a more streamlined structure to get all of you equipped to host screenings in your community. We are still locking down an exact date but it looks like you’ll be able to buy the Tapped DVD on our website by the end of February. Just in time for you to purchase and organize a house party for World Water Day on March 24! We need your help with something – Nestle has it’s sights set on Sacramento CA as their next bottling site. We are working with water activists in Sacramento and want to hold screenings of Tapped in towns across the country that are facing a similar fate. If you know of such a town won’t you sponsor a screening? We are offering special public exhibition prices  (see below for details).  We want to pick a date in October where everyone can host a screening on the same day. Such an effort should garner some national media attention and raise awareness across the country that we are not powerless to these multinational corporations. We need more friends!! Won’t you add us to your facebook page and encourage your friends to join our Tapped fan page! If you live near an area hosting a screening join the Tapped Team and help us promote the event! Hang posters, sell DVDs, and get the word out for us! We’ll thank you with a Tapped T-shirt and a limited edition Tapped Klean Kanteen! SIGN OUR PETITIONS! Visit www.tappedthemovie.com, Click on “Take Action” and in the left column we have a bunch of petitions for you to sign. Please help us gather signatures!!! Sign the petitions and then post them to your facebook page so your friends can sign too! Thanks again for all your help in getting the word out about Tapped. We need your help now more than ever. In appreciation, Stephanie Soechtig Director, Tapped A TOWN GOES BOTTLED-WATER FREE! On Saturday, 26 September 2009 a little town in Australia called Bundanoon launched its initiative to make the quiet village of about 2,500 people, Australia's First Bottled Water Free Town. We were proud to donate a screening of Tapped to the community that will be shown on their first day of being bottled water free. We hope communities across the world will look to Bundanoon as an example of what citizens are capable of. GOOD NEWS FOR MCCLOUD CALIFORNIA IS BAD NEWS FOR SACRAMENTO: On September 10, Nestle announced that it was abandoning plans for its controversial McCloud bottling plant after 6 years of fierce opposition. The McCloud plant received its final blow last year when Attorney General Jerry Brown wrote a letter telling Nestle that their environmental review was deficient and that they had to study environmental problems created by water bottling such as green house gas emissions, the use of petroleum and plastic trash. Now, according to the Indymedia they plan to build a bottling plant in Sacramento with no public meetings, no environmental review and unlimited access to our municipal water. On August 9th, Mayor Kevin Johnson was quoted in the Sacramento Bee as saying; “We’re going to have to learn to use water smarter, which is a new way of thinking in our city where residents have tapped into two major rivers for generations… We need to light a fire under the city’s efforts to save water so we can be a shining example of how to use water more efficiently instead of being a showcase of waste and inefficiency.” This is in stark contrast to statements Johnson made in response to Nestle moving into Sacramento. Johnson trumpeted Nestle’s arrival by saying “During these tough economic times, this company will not only bring jobs to the city, but it is also nice to have a reaffirmation that many firms still see Sacramento as such a desirable location.” Nestle stated in their press release that Sacramento will be a better site for them because their Northern California customers are mostly located in Sacramento and the Bay Area. It’s time to let them know that people in Sacramento and the Bay Area completely oppose this project. Save our Water Sacramento is leading the charge in an effort to hold Tapped screenings cross the country to educate communities facing bottled water corporations. Join the movement - host a screening the week of October 12. At the Sacramento City Council meeting on September 4, District 6 Council member Kevin McCarty expressed concerns about the Nestle bottling plant and asked the city manager to report back to him on the water and environmental issues. If you live in council district 6, contact Kevin McCarty and let him know you oppose the Nestle bottling plant. 916-808-7006 or This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it SPECIAL OFFER: In appreciation of your efforts to bring Tapped to your community we are offering a revised price structure to those of you that signed up on our website. $500/screening + 50% of the box office OR 3 screenings for $1000 or 5 screenings for $1500 and you keep the box office dollars. 100% of the money goes into the Tapped Outreach Campaign so that we can get the film seen across the country. Use slow release fertilizer on your lawns and flowerbeds. By using slow release fertilizers it severely limits the amount of nitrates that penetrate our water tables. (These water tables are where our drinking water comes from.) 2. Water your lawn at night. By watering at night you can use half as much water because you're not fighting evaporation before the water gets to the roots of your lawn. Also only water your lawn two to three days a week. This is plenty to keep your lawn nice and green through even the worst drought. 3. Use water-restricting showerheads in all your bathrooms. 4.  Put a brick in your toilet.  Of course I mean the tank part that holds the water.  It will significantly reduce the amount of water used for every flush without affecting the workings of your toilet. 5. Catch and release if you're a fisherman.  It is estimated that we have already removed 95% of the large fish from our oceans so if you're not going to eat it or feed the poor with it let it go.  Take a picture but let it go. 6. Never pour anything into the ground.  Especially oil, paint, household cleaners you name it. 7. If at all possible make less garbage.  Landfills create seepage that gets into the water table.  Garbage has a way of finding its way into our waterways.  Just be conscious of the amount of nonrecyclable garbage you create. 8. Use rechargeable batteries.  If I told you the amount of waste that batteries create it would boggle your mind. 9. If you see a piece of litter pick it up. Ever driven by a small creek, pond or canal that's been filled with garbage.  Most of it wasn't thrown there, most of it found its way there. 10. Get involved, tell people about our website.
